About The Event

The Trifels Spring School 2025 is organised by the DFKI, the RPTU and the Franco-German University in cooperation with the Begegnungszentrum Kurhaus Trifels e.V. - and takes place from March 24th to 28th in Annweiler am Trifels.

The spring school will gather 20 early career researchers (PhD candidates and postdocs), offering a program to accelerate your professional development while creating collaboration opportunities and forums for discussion with key stakeholders. The working language is English. Candidates are selected on a first-come-first-served basis.

The week of conferences will be split into two cycles of conferences, one organised directly by the DFKI and the RPTU, the other by the Franco-German University.

First cycle of conferences from March 24th to 26th: AI in Bioinformatics'

The focus will be on applications of AI in bioinformatics, biological knowledge discovery and current issues in AI in health more broadly. The school will offer hands-on workshops, invited talks, and discussion sessions. The workshops are designed to introduce a multidisciplinary group of researchers to current problems of AI in bioinformatics. You can find information about previous events here.

Second cycle of conferences from March 27th to 28th: Franco-German dialogue on AI

The rapid development of artificial intelligence poses a crucial question for our society: How can we ensure that AI technologies enrich our lives and society without endangering them? As the international community continues to explore the potential of these revolutionary technologies, all stakeholders face numerous challenges. Algorithm bias, cybersecurity, societal implications and ethical challenges are fundamental aspects to consider as AI becomes more prevalent in everyday life. What governance and regulatory structures would be necessary? How can we foster innovation while ensuring the security and integrity of our democracies? The Franco-German dialogue on AI aims to bring together scientific experts and early career researchers on these major topics and to respond to the challenges of AI for our societies through a comprehensive and interdisciplinary approach.

The spring school will cover venue booking, catering and accommodation for participants, invited speakers’ travel and organisational personnel costs. Participants are expected to cover their own travel expenses and optional expenses for extra drinks or food.
